This split release between isoRhythm and Morrison Recordings brings us a wonderful 2 track EP from the likes of Glenn Morrison & Matt Lange. Having previously worked together extensively has paid off in dividends as this release showcases a darker, more hypnotic side to their work. 'Bowed' is an extremely detailed and musically minimalistic approach, with light flashes of melody crashing in, juxtaposed against the grimy underlay. Matt's custom recordings of taking a cello bow to various metal objects is responsible for the haunting, grating string instrument you hear throughout the record, and is all part and parcel to the IsoRhythm brand that he cultivates. 'Class B' is a chugging big room affair, reminiscent of Glenn's 'track 'Under A Pink Cherry Tree'. It's a builder with industrial metallic shards of sound that cut in deep to accent the rolling baseline and groove. This is a showcase of two brilliant minds in action and there will be much more to come in 2012.
